A single high-value sale to an overseas buyer concentrates every payment problem into one transaction. The amount is large, the buyer is unfamiliar, the funds have to be certain before anything is dispatched, and the compliance file has to stand up afterwards.

Card rails are built for small reversible purchases. Wire transfers take days and arrive without explanation. Neither is a good fit for the way this trade actually works.

Certainty before dispatch

A stablecoin transfer that has been received and is available does not reverse. You are not shipping against a payment that can be pulled back.

A known buyer

Sources are whitelisted in advance, so the money arrives already attached to a party you have approved.

Every receipt, conversion and payment sits in one history that exports. An AML file needs exactly that.

Why finality matters more here than anywhere else

In most of retail, reversibility protects the buyer and the cost of the occasional dispute is absorbed into margin. In high-value goods the arithmetic inverts.

  • The item leaves and does not come back. A watch, a stone or a vehicle dispatched against a payment that is later reversed is a total loss, not a margin event.
  • Card chargeback windows outlast the sale. A dispute can arrive months after the item was collected, long after the trail has gone cold.
  • Wires arrive without context. Money lands with a reference nobody typed correctly and somebody spends a day establishing who sent it.
  • A received stablecoin transfer is done. Once it has been received and is available on the platform, it is not going to be recalled by the sender.

That single property is why the rail suits this trade: you can hand over something irreplaceable with confidence.

The compliance side, which is the harder half

Dealers in high-value goods sit inside the EU anti-money-laundering perimeter, and a payment that arrives cleanly but cannot be explained is worse than no payment at all.

The platform's inbound controls line up with that obligation rather than fighting it. Sources have to be whitelisted before funds can be received, which means the buyer is established as a party before the money moves rather than after. If funds arrive from a source that is not recognised, they are held, the support team makes contact, and the outcome is either a return to the sender or a release to you.

The practical effect is that you never end up holding an unexplained receipt. Every payment in Activity has a known counterparty behind it, and the whole history exports to CSV or Excel when somebody asks to see it.

How your money moves

A high-value sale runs the same sequence as any other payment.

  1. 1Top-Up. You transfer fiat to your linked IBAN. It is converted through the on-ramp and lands in your wallet as a supported stablecoin. Where the fiat currency and the stablecoin denomination match, that conversion is 1:1 before fees.
  2. 2Register the counterparty. Anyone you pay has to exist as a counterparty record first, holding the name and the IBAN or wallet address. Anyone paying you has to be whitelisted as a source.
  3. 3Send or Make a Payment. Send moves stablecoins to a counterparty wallet. Make a Payment converts stablecoins back to fiat and sends it over traditional rails to a bank account.
  4. 4Receive and Swap. Incoming stablecoins arrive at your wallet address. Swap exchanges one supported stablecoin for another without leaving the platform.
  5. 5Reconcile. Every transfer, payment, swap and top-up sits in Activity, and the whole history exports to CSV or Excel.

How a sale runs end to end

  1. 1Register the buyer. They are whitelisted as a source before the invoice goes out, not after they have sent money.
  2. 2Agree the asset and the network. Name the specific supported stablecoin and the network on the invoice. A mismatch is how transfers get lost.
  3. 3They pay. Funds arrive at your wallet address. See accepting digital asset payments for the detail.
  4. 4You confirm it is available. Once received and available, the balance is yours to use, and that is the point at which the item can be released.
  5. 5You take euro out. Make a Payment converts and pays your bank account. See the crypto IBAN account.

Controls built into every payment

Most of the operational risk in cross-border payments comes from paying the wrong party, or taking money from a source you cannot account for. NGPES makes both a deliberate step.

  • We pre-register your counterparties. Funds can only be sent to a party already recorded in the platform, with the routing details attached. There is no free-text payment field to get wrong.
  • We whitelist your sources. Money can only be received from parties you have approved in advance.
  • We hold unknown sources. If funds arrive from a source that is not recognised, they are placed on hold and the support team contacts you. They are then either returned or released to you.
  • Subaccounts separate the flows. One organisation account can hold subaccounts per team, function or payment flow, each with its own balances and transaction history, all under central control.
  • We keep everything on the record. The dashboard shows balances, activity and account-level liquidity in real time, and Activity exports the full history to CSV or Excel for reconciliation.

The digital asset layer is instant once liquidity is available, and the fiat legs at either end move at the speed of the banks involved. That is a large improvement on a correspondent banking chain, and it is not the same as end-to-end instant.

Why not just take a card payment?

Card rails are built around reversibility. For an item that has been dispatched and cannot be recovered, a chargeback window that outlasts the sale is a real exposure rather than a theoretical one.

Is a stablecoin payment final?

Once the transfer has been received and the balance is available on the platform, it is not recalled by the sender. That is the property that makes it suit high-value dispatch.

Can any buyer pay us?

No. Sources are whitelisted in advance. Funds from an unrecognised source are held while the support team establishes the detail, and are then returned or released.

How do we satisfy our AML obligations?
