Converting USDT to USDC, and what a MiCA-bound platform can do

Holding one stablecoin and owing another is an ordinary operational situation, and the usual fix is to route the balance out to an exchange and back again. That adds two handovers, two records and a wait.

Swap does it inside the platform. The important detail is the boundary: it operates between supported MiCA-compliant stablecoins, and anything outside that set is a different conversation.

What Swap does

Exchanges one supported stablecoin for another inside the platform, from your custodial wallet.

What it covers

Supported MiCA-compliant stablecoins only. That boundary is the whole point of the function.

What it does not cover

Assets outside the supported set. Inbound funds in a non-compliant asset are handled as an exception instead.

Why it exists

So you can manage liquidity across supported assets, issuers and networks from one place.

When converting is the right move

  • You owe a different asset than you hold. The most common case. Convert ahead of the payment date, not on it.
  • You are spreading issuer exposure. Holding everything in one stablecoin concentrates your exposure to a single issuer. Swap spreads it across supported assets.
  • You are aligning to a counterparty's network. Depending on the supported blockchain network, different wallet addresses apply, so the asset and the network need to match what the recipient can receive.
  • You received one thing and operate in another. Standardising your working balance makes the treasury position easier to read.

And when it is not the right move: converting speculatively. These assets reference fiat currencies, so there is no trading gain to chase between them, and every conversion is an operational event with a fee attached.

The distinction between a Swap and an exception conversion matters operationally. One is a function you run. The other needs a person, and therefore takes longer.

How your money moves

The platform runs on a stablecoin settlement layer. Fiat is not held inside it. It moves in and out through a linked IBAN, and converts on the way through.

  1. 1Top-Up. You transfer fiat to your linked IBAN. It is converted through the on-ramp and lands in your wallet as a supported stablecoin. Where the fiat currency and the stablecoin denomination match, that conversion is 1:1 before fees.
  2. 2Register the counterparty. Anyone you pay has to exist as a counterparty record first, holding the name and the IBAN or wallet address. Anyone paying you has to be whitelisted as a source.
  3. 3Send or Make a Payment. Send moves stablecoins to a counterparty wallet. Make a Payment converts stablecoins back to fiat and sends it over traditional rails to a bank account.
  4. 4Receive and Swap. Incoming stablecoins arrive at your wallet address. Swap exchanges one supported stablecoin for another without leaving the platform.
  5. 5Reconcile. Every transfer, payment, swap and top-up sits in Activity, and the whole history exports to CSV or Excel.

Controls built into every payment

Most of the operational risk in cross-border payments comes from paying the wrong party, or taking money from a source you cannot account for. NGPES makes both a deliberate step.

  • We pre-register your counterparties. Funds can only be sent to a party already recorded in the platform, with the routing details attached. There is no free-text payment field to get wrong.
  • We whitelist your sources. Money can only be received from parties you have approved in advance.
  • We hold unknown sources. If funds arrive from a source that is not recognised, they are placed on hold and the support team contacts you. They are then either returned or released to you.
  • Subaccounts separate the flows. One organisation account can hold subaccounts per team, function or payment flow, each with its own balances and transaction history, all under central control.
  • We keep everything on the record. The dashboard shows balances, activity and account-level liquidity in real time, and Activity exports the full history to CSV or Excel for reconciliation.

The digital asset layer is instant once liquidity is available, and the fiat legs at either end move at the speed of the banks involved. That is a large improvement on a correspondent banking chain, and it is not the same as end-to-end instant.

What does Swap do?

It exchanges one supported stablecoin for another inside the platform, so you can manage liquidity across supported assets, issuers and networks without routing balances out to an exchange.

Can I swap USDT into a supported stablecoin?

Swap operates between supported MiCA-compliant stablecoins. USDT sits outside that set, so a conversion from it is handled as an exception on inbound funds rather than through the normal Swap function. Confirm the position with the team.

Why does the platform only support certain stablecoins?

Because NGPES is a France-based regulated provider and the platform holds selected MiCA-compliant stablecoins only. That constraint is what allows regulated counterparties to transact with you.

Is Swap how I get euro?

No. Swap moves between stablecoins. Make a Payment converts your balance to fiat and sends it to a bank account over traditional rails.

Should I convert to chase a better rate?

No. These assets reference fiat currencies, so there is no meaningful gain between them, and each conversion carries a fee and an operational record.

How fast is a swap?

It happens inside the platform, on the stablecoin layer, once funds are received and available.

Where does it show up?

In Activity, alongside your transfers, payments and top-ups, and it exports with the rest to CSV or Excel.
