What you can hold, who is allowed to pay you, and how the money leaves. Answered for NGPES specifically.
Ask any provider these questions. Here are our answers.
The supported asset list is the first constraint and the one most likely to break your plan.
Determines what happens under stress, and whether your own compliance function will approve it.
A balance you cannot turn into euro in a bank account is not a payment solution.
Who can pay you, who you can pay, and what happens when funds arrive from a source nobody recognises.
| Question | Answer here |
|---|---|
| What assets can be held? | Selected MiCA-compliant stablecoins only. Non-compliant inbound funds can be converted as an exception rather than held. |
| Who regulates the provider? | NGPES is France-based, holds Payment Institution status, with EMI and CASP authorisations in progress. GDPR and DORA compliant. |
| How does value become euro? | Make a Payment converts the balance to fiat and sends it to a registered bank account over traditional rails, through a linked IBAN. |
| What controls the inbound side? | Sources are whitelisted in advance. Unknown inbound funds are held while support contacts you, then returned or released. |
| What controls the outbound side? | Counterparties are pre-registered with routing details attached. There is no free-text destination. |
| What does finance get? | A real-time dashboard, plus a full transaction history exportable to CSV or Excel. |
Two answers are deliberately narrower than a typical gateway would give: the asset list, and the absence of a published API or hosted checkout. Both are the trade for the regulatory position.
Listed plainly, because a comparison page that only lists strengths is not a comparison.
If your project is consumer checkout with a wide coin list and a developer integration, that is a different product category and you should say so early rather than discovering it in implementation.
The platform runs on a stablecoin settlement layer. Fiat is not held inside it. It moves in and out through a linked IBAN, and converts on the way through.
Most of the operational risk in cross-border payments comes from paying the wrong party, or taking money from a source you cannot account for. NGPES makes both a deliberate step.
Here is what each leg takes.
| Leg | Timing |
|---|---|
| Stablecoin transfer | Settles instantly within the platform, once funds have been received and are available. |
| Stablecoin to fiat conversion | Instant. |
| Fiat arriving at the recipient | Depends on the destination currency, the geography and the external banking rails involved. NGPES does not control this leg. |
| Fiat top-up | Depends on the inbound transfer reaching your linked IBAN. |
The digital asset layer is instant once liquidity is available, and the fiat legs at either end move at the speed of the banks involved. That is a large improvement on a correspondent banking chain, and it is not the same as end-to-end instant.
This is what the platform supports today.
| Position today | |
|---|---|
| Stablecoins | Selected MiCA-compliant stablecoins only. Assets outside that set are not held on the platform. |
| Non-compliant assets | Funds arriving in an asset that is not MiCA-compliant can be converted into a MiCA-compliant one, as a case-by-case exception, not a standing service. |
| Fiat | Moves in and out through the linked IBAN via on-ramp and off-ramp. Fiat balances are not held on the platform. |
| Swap | Between supported MiCA-compliant stablecoins only. |
| External accounts | You can register your own external bank accounts and wallet addresses. They are verified before use, and only for flows involving the same organisation. |
| Team management | Announced as coming soon. Not available yet. |
If a particular asset, currency or corridor matters to your business, ask us before you build around it.
Where NGPES is authorised today.

The route between someone paying you in a digital asset and that value being usable in your business. The important parts are what it can hold, who is allowed to pay in, and how the balance becomes money in a bank account.
The supported asset list, the regulatory status, how value converts to fiat, the controls on inbound and outbound payments, and what the finance team gets for reconciliation. Fee percentage alone predicts very little.
Selected MiCA-compliant stablecoins only. Funds arriving in a non-compliant asset can be converted as an exception rather than held.
NGPES states real-time API status and tracking. A hosted checkout page is not described. If either is central to your project, raise it with the team before planning around it.
Make a Payment converts your stablecoin balance to fiat and sends it to a registered bank account over traditional rails.
Sources are whitelisted in advance. Funds from an unrecognised source are held, support contacts you, and they are then returned or released.
NGPES is based in France with Payment Institution status today, an EMI authorisation in progress through NGPES Payments and a CASP authorisation in progress through NGPES Digital.
Including the ones where the answer is no. That is usually the more useful half.
